In my life, I’ve written thousands of articles for the Ark-La-Tex to enjoy. However, I’ve never been so excited or emotional while writing. I’d love to tell you why I chose to launch KSBC!
For most of my adult life, I’ve been creating content for the SBC and keeping our community company on the radio daily. I began in radio at 15 years old as a sophomore at Evangel Christian Academy. It was the coolest job ever, and luckily, somehow, someway, I’m still doing it all these years later.
While I do love being on the air in my hometown seven days a week, I’ve always loved having the ability to write content. I’ve always considered it an air shift that lasts 24 hours a day. When you’re a radio DJ, you can only be heard and have an impact for 4-5 hours a day. Before websites and content creation, those were the only times during the day you could speak to the community. Having said that, I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed writing articles for our community. Whether it be a local news story breaking right before your eyes, or a Top 10 story highlighting my 10 favorite Mexican restaurants in Shreveport. The freedom to be able to talk about what you’d like to talk about with the community you love is the greatest feeling someone can have in my profession.
Simply put, I see everything written in our community these days, and I believe something is missing. Heck, a ton of the content you see and interact with, and read daily focused on our community isn’t even written by someone who lives here. How bizarre is that? I wanted to launch KSBC as a way of getting back to local. Truly local. It is owned and operated locally, with a phone number that rings right here in Shreveport-Bossier. Most of all though, I wanted to launch KSBC because I genuinely want to write articles and create content for you. Not because I have to, and I risk losing my job if I don’t. Been there, done that, and trust me, there’s no fun in that. I’m ready to have fun again and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
In the meantime, if you ever have a story that needs covering, or maybe you have some constructive (or non-constructive) criticism, reach out to me anytime by emailing Jay@TheKSBC.com.
