The Shreveport Mudbugs’ trip to the Lonestar State began with a scare, as the team bus caught fire on the interstate.
I have to say, I was in quite a shock casually scrolling on Facebook this evening when I stumbled across this news. For those unaware, the Shreveport Mudbugs are slated to take on the Lone Star Brahmas this weekend. The games on Friday and Saturday will kick off the NAHL South division finals.
When the team arrived in the DFW area this afternoon, things turned frightening as their bus caught fire on the interstate. Thankfully for everyone involved, the fire was contained quickly, and first responders arrived quickly to handle the blaze. No one was hurt in the incident, and even more impressive, the ‘Bugs seemed to be in good spirits on the interstate after evacuating the bus.
I have received reports from the team that their equipment was also saved without damage.
The Shreveport Mudbugs take on Lone Star on Friday and Saturday night. Regardless of how those games turn out, the ‘Bugs will return to Shreveport on Friday, May 10th. Game four will be played on Saturday, May 11th in Shreveport if necessary.
