Louisiana Edibles Ban Bill Fails; New Regulations in Place

The legislative session concluded today without passing a bill aimed at banning edible THC products, marking a significant victory for both the cannabis industry and enthusiasts. Joe Gerrity, CEO of Crescent Canna, played a pivotal role in thwarting the proposed legislation that sought to outlaw consumable hemp products.

Gerrity says, “The ban and the support of the Senate President, the Governor and two billionaires who are exceedingly powerful politically.  So it really was a testament of the power of the people that we ended up not facing a total ban.”

Although the bill was defeated, lawmakers succeeded in implementing new regulations. These include age restrictions, limitations on portion sizes, and designated selling points for these products.

He continued by saying, “Perhaps the biggest change for a lot of people are that they will no longer be sold in gas stations and the maximum size of a beverage container is now four cans per package.”

Gerrity expressed his frustration with the level of misunderstanding about THC products among legislators, highlighting the challenges of dialogue when foundational knowledge is lacking.

“And its difficult to negotiate or convince people to change their opinions when the just don’t know what they’re talking about.” he stated.

Critics of the THC industry argue that the products remain too accessible and are missing necessary safeguards.
