Mudbugs’ Rival Spotted Repping Popular Shreveport Restaurant

Lone Star Brahmas head coach (and Mudbugs legend) Dan Wildfong is a huge Superior fan, and we don’t blame him.

Last week, the most significant rival to the Shreveport Mudbugs came to town and ripped out our collective hearts in stunning fashion. The Brahmas came to Shreveport to face the ‘Bugs in the South Division finals. When they arrived, it was anyone’s series. However, two days later, our Mudbugs season came to a devastating end. Lone Star won both games Friday and Saturday night, eliminating the Mudbugs, and sending the Brahmas to the NAHL Final Four in Blaine, Minnesota.

Yesterday, the team departed from Texas to make the long journey up North, and head coach Dan Wildfong made sure to pack a piece of clothing repping one of our favorite Shreveport restaurants.

Today, during the Brahmas’ practice in Minnesota, Coach Wildfong took the ice with this team wearing a hat that many of us know all too well. The current Mudbugs rival and all-time Mudbugs legend was sporting a Superior Grill margarita hat.

I have to say, I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the photo on Facebook. After all, Dan Wildfong spent many years here in Shreveport during his time dominating for the Shreveport Mudbugs. His career was so impressive that his name and banner still sit in the rafters of George’s Pond. It was incredibly cool to see that he still has a place in his heart (or on his head) for Superior Grill.

Even the biggest rivals agree; nothing beats a margarita from Superior.
